Here's what I made earlier. One day, they'll be links.

(More about the fic here.)

    Act 1

  1. Here's to the losers, bless them all 4k, T
Here's the last toast of the evening: here's to those who still believe
all the losers will be winners, all the givers shall receive.
Here's to trouble-free tomorrows. May your sorrows all be small!
Here's to the losers, bless them all!
Frank Sinatra - 'Here's to the Losers'
Cass has been waiting for something other than dust to blow through the Mojave Outpost's doors, whether trouble or salvation. This courier with a revolver, a head injury, and a love of liquor to rival her own? Might be both.
  2. Strangers in the night 10.6k, T
Two lonely people, we were strangers in the night
And ever since that night, we've been together
Lovers at first sight, in love forever
It turned out so right for strangers in the night.
Frank Sinatra - 'Strangers in the Night'
Boone meets a courier who can try even a sniper's patience. But nosy and brash might be just what he's been looking for. And hoping not to set his sights on - again. Shame he doesn't deserve hope.
  3. Let me play among the stars 30.6k, T
Fly me to the moon, let me play among the stars
Fill my heart with song and let me sing forever more
You are all I long for, all I worship and adore
Frank Sinatra - 'Fly Me to the Moon (In Other Words)'
Boone's not sure agreeing to travel with this careless courier was a good idea. Maybe it's not so bad: he not-so-secretly likes chatty people. Like Briscoe, or Carla, or... Wait. This is very bad.
  4. Just a couple of problem solvers 34.5k, M
Boone: Any closer, I'm shooting any legionary I see. Hope that's not a problem.
    Courier: No, that's not a problem. That's a solution.
Boone: Damn right. You and I, we're just a couple of problem solvers.
    Fallout: New Vegas
Boone knew his new partner had something wrong with her. Many things wrong with her. Still - at least she's not Manny. Though... maybe things would be easier if she were a man. Less hard, in any case.
  5. Wise men say only fools rush in 26k, E
Wise men say 'only fools rush in'
but I can't help falling in love with you.
Shall I stay? Would it be a sin
Elvis Presley - 'Can't Help Falling in Love'
The past comes back to haunt Boone at Boulder City. More than usual - rattling the chains this time, the works. At the 188 Trading Post, ghosts are Veronica's only comfort. Which is pretty sad, isn't it?
  6. And in between, it's nicotine 31.9k, E
I'm moonin' all the mornin', moanin' all the night
And in between, it's nicotine, and not much heart to fight
    Peggy Lee - 'Black Coffee'
Brotherhood spy, women who lie - Boone would rather just fight legionaries. On the way into Vegas, Lady Luck smiles on him. Arcade has been in Vegas for years, though, and if she's interested in him, she's got a funny way of showing it.
  7. Didn't have too much to say 61k, M
Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't have too much to say
No-one dared to ask his business
He was vicious and a killer, though a youth of twenty-four
    Marty Robbins - 'Big Iron'
Boone's friends are good people who don't deserve PTSD, unlike him, though they're too damn stubborn to accept help. His other charitable endeavours in Vegas bring him into contact with various doctors, only some of whom immediately become his mortal enemies; his search for paid work mostly involves his old squadmates, only some of whom immediately become his mortal enemies. Patching things up with them isn't too hard - patching himself up's a two-steps-back affair.
  8. You can wag your tail 81.8k, M
You ain't nothing but a hound dog, been snoopin' 'round my door
You can wag your tail, but I ain't gonna feed you no more!
Big Mama Thornton - 'Hound Dog'
Arcade's work moves on from cacti to spikier people. Boone fears becoming the third wheel, due to relative immaturity, but actually he could beat Four-Eyes at anything. Putting up with this would prove Arcade the bigger man - you know, if he were truly part of Boone's ridiculous contest.
  9. Fight it with all of our might 25.1k, E
I'll try hard, ignoring those lips I adore - but how long can anyone try?
Fight, fight, fight, fight it with all of our might
Bing Crosby - 'Something's Gotta Give'
Boone's patience crossed the line at some point; became cowardice. No more excuses. Well... maybe a little more recon, first. But that's just appropriate caution for a shot this important.
  10. Nihil novi sub sole 47.1k, E
Arcade: I'm enthusiastic about helping people, but nihil novi sub sole.
    Courier: Nihi-what?
Arcade: Oh. Sorry. 'There is nothing new under the sun.'
    Fallout: New Vegas
Arcade could have predicted the results of his most recent experiment a mile away. So now to put a few miles between him and Novac, and hope it's enough. Novac's nothing to Boone now, or so he tells himself. Arcade tells himself and others plenty of things, sometimes voluntarily - but will anyone listen?
  11. For the sake of having you near 45.2k, M
I'd tried so not to give in.
I would sacrifice anything come what might,
for the sake of having you near
In spite of the warning voice that comes in the night
and repeats (how it yells in my ear!)
Frank Sinatra - 'I've Got You Under My Skin'
Boone swaps his shades for rose-tinted glasses. Despite their worse eyesight, distinctive, girly eyewear will provoke fear in both Arcade and Raul from now on. So many things can prevent you from realising you've escaped the frying pan for the fire - like Med-X, radiation, and worst of all, love.
  12. Just like a couple of tots 21.3k, E
You and I are just like a couple of tots
    running across a meadow,
    picking up lots of forget-me-nots
Frank Sinatra - 'You Make Me Feel So Young'
Instinct, programming, destiny - Arcade wishes he knew the difference. Raul knows how to smooth over the cracks. Actually repairing robots for insane women is new; so is keeping their secrets.
  13. I'll be your cowgirl 18k, M
I'll be your cowgirl, you'll be my cowboy
You'll be my Dale, I'll be your Roy
When the day is done, homeward we'll be wending
like a movie with a happy ending
Lost Weekend Western Swing Band - 'Let's Ride Into The Sunset Together'
Cass doesn't want to think she's anything like this vengeance-obsessed courier, but their little caravan is seeing double, too. Boone's fears for the future look too much like the past. Blocking it all out, locking everyone else out - can Arcade pretend one's better than the other much longer?
  14. Oh, ain't you glad you're single? 25.6k, E
I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle
as I go ridin' merrily along
and they sing, 'Oh, ain't you glad you're single?'
and that song ain't so very far from wrong!
The Kay Kyser Orchestra ft. Harry Babbitt and Julie Conway - 'Jingle, Jangle, Jingle'
It's 24 hours of utter fornicating chaos for Arcade. Boone starts to get his affairs in order, and tells a new old enemy to do the same. Veronica has no idea what she's just stumbled into.
  15. Wait 'til you see that sunshine place
Wait 'til you're locked in my embrace
wait 'til I draw you near!
Wait 'til you see that sunshine place
    ain't nothing like it here
Frank Sinatra - 'The Best Is Yet to Come'
  16. Caravan code of the wastes
Courier: [Benny] wanted something I was carrying.
Cass: So he robbed you? Robbing a courier's low, and any family or group he's with is going to get a black eye for it. Caravan code of the wastes is you don't fuck with the one who brings you your mail and you don't fuck with your supply line. Hope this shithead knows what he's in for, from both of us
    Fallout: New Vegas
  17. Act 2

  18. And so the best that I can do is pray
You might forget your manners. You might refuse to stay!
And so the best that I can do is pray.
Frank Sinatra - 'Luck Be a Lady'
  19. To be the darling of all
It's something to be the darling of all
la grande femme fatale, the belle of the ball
My head may be aching, but it's unbowed
Peggy Lee - '(Ah, the Apple Trees) When the World Was Young'
  20. Don't care for high-tone places
My baby don't care for cars and races
My baby don't care for high-tone places
Nina Simone - 'My Baby Just Cares for Me'
  21. The ones I used to know
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
just like the ones I used to know
    Bing Crosby - 'White Christmas'
  22. Accused of drinkin' water
    The politician's daughter
    was accused of drinkin' water
and was fined a great big fifty dollar bill
Frank Sinatra - 'The Coffee Song (They've Got an Awful Lot of Coffee in Brazil)'
  23. Act 3

    Act 4

    The End!
